New Teacher

During my student teaching, I could witness that the way I interpersonally relate to the students has been gradually increasing positivity. My first week working with class V24 was different than it is right now.  SchoolsView.com

For instance, at the beginning the students were not as cooperative as they are right now; they were shy and constantly second-guesses themselves when the time to answer my questions. The new teacher experience is very colorful and rich in information.

Now that the end of the summer school is approaching I can say that I have established a sense of trust and respect among my students. I understand that it will be difficult to create an environment where your students feel confident and assured enough to learn.

That’s why I must let students know that they are free to make mistakes and try again — students who feel that they are valued and their opinions matter learn more readily. Knowing how to relate to students interpersonally is an essential key to my success as a teacher.

Facing hardships

How I solve problems and maintain motivation affects the design of my classroom environment and influences how information is presented to students, which ultimately affects student achievement. When the student feels good about his teacher, he will not hesitate to ask him any hard questions. Also, students will have high self-esteem and feel more confident which will help them to study better.

The impact of technology

I think that preparing the students for the future takes a combination of effort and empathy. life doesn’t mean only give them a large amount of information but also learn them how to associate well with others and how to treat others reasonably especially the people who will be under them or their supervision. I am a big fan of incorporating technology into my lessons; it makes students more excited to learn.

When technology is integrated into school lessons, learners are more likely to be interested in, focused on, and excited about the subjects they are studying.

Topics that might be monotonous for some, like math and science, can be much more engaging with virtual lessons and interactive smartboard activities. The classroom that I’m currently in has a Smart projector that is supposed to be interactive, but it is not correctly working.

Classroom experience

The only thing that allows me to do is to project what is on my computer, and the sound does not work. These obstacles are no reason for me to prepare an interactive lesson. The first thing I did was to bring a speaker from my house. This way I can incorporate videos into my instruction that will keep the students turned to the lesson.

Second, instead of integrating smartboard activities I used the dry erase board and asked students to come up and show their knowledge on the board.

We all know how difficult it is to engage the children in learning. However, they enjoy the process when the teacher uses whiteboard or touch screen technology to make classes more interactive and exciting. In that way, it’s easy to attract the students’ attention.

Involving technology in the educational process makes education more enjoyable both for the teachers and the learners.

We shouldn’t underestimate the possibilities of educational technology in our modern society. Nowadays people all over the world prefer virtual classes. Children enjoy this form of education.

This last week of summer school I prepared a math lesson for the second period. The lesson was about everything concerning angles and lines. Before school, I made sure to draw out with a marker a coordinate plane on the floor. SchoolsView.com

I also numbered each angle and line with masking tape, so my students were able to rotate around in groups and record their observations on a data sheet.

After going over the different angles and lines with the students and having them label it on a plane drawn on the board; I had them tape the coordinate plane already illustrated on the floor and individually mark one angle or line they could recognize on the plane. The students were fully engaged and cooperative. I was amazed by how much they enjoyed the lesson.

Conclusion

My point here is that I have learned that being resourceful and using the space around us to instruct promotes engagement among the students. The ultimate goal is to put the learner in charge of learning.

Create a rich learning environment and a motivation to learn, and the students do all the hard work of learning, while the teacher merely facilitates.

If a teacher wants to increase student engagement, then the teacher needs to increase student activity; ask the students to do something with the knowledge and skills they have learned.

Break up the lecture with learning activities. Let them practice and get them moving. Make it so engaging that it will be difficult for students not to participate.
